Introduction
------------
Yes, another fine-quaility program from Randy Hunt!
TriDay is a program that will display to your users an ANSI (.ANS)
or monochrome (.BBS) screen when they log on to the BBS. The screen
that is displayed to the user depends on the day of the week or the
date. For instance...It's Friday, April 16. I call up my local BBS
and logon on with my name and password. I'm then (just before the
bulletin menu appears) greated with a screen called FRI.ANS[.BBS] and/or
0416.ANS[.BBS]. It's a little difficult to explain, but I think you
understand. Basically, screens are shown to the users using TriDay
(which is called in LOGON.BAT) that are named for the days of the week
or the month and day. Read on for specifics!!
TriDay has multi-node capabilities; all you have to do is make
separate configuration files for each node! It's THAT easy!
Setup
-----
1) Make a directory for the door, and move all files included in this
ZIP file into that directory. I have made my directory as a sub-
directory of my TriBBS directory (C:\TRIBBS\TRIDAY\).
2) Make or edit the configuration file. Call it whatever you want,
but whatever you name it, has to be the first parameter on the
command line for TriDay to run. For multiple nodes,
create one config file for each node. Call them something
like TRIDAY1.CFG, TRIDAY2.CFG or something like that. This is
a simple SIX line ascii file that contains the following:
Line 1 - DOOR Data File type (can be: TRIBBS,PCB,SF or GAP).
(PCB=PCBoard,SF=SpitFire,GAP=DOOR.SYS,TRIBBS=TriBBS)
Line 2 - Path to the above door data file
Line 3 - Your BBS's Name
Line 4 - Sysops first and last name
Line 5 - Locked baud rate (0 if not locked!)
Line 6 - Registration Code (0 if unregistered)
Make sure there are NO leading or trailing spaces!!
3) Next, go edit your LOGON.BAT file to call TriDay.
The LOGON.BAT file is to be placed in your TriBBS's main directory.
Here's what my LOGON.BAT file looks like:
cd\tribbs\triday
triday triday.cfg
cd\tribbs
board.bat
You don't have to call TriDay in LOGON.BAT, it COULD run as a door
or a security specific logon batch file. I believe though, that
mose people would use it in LOGON.BAT....
4) Now all you have to do is create the files that you want displayed
to your users. These screens are to be placed in the SAME directory
as Triday!! This is VERY important!!
For screens to be displayed using the days of the week, use the
following file names:
SUN.ANS [.BBS]
MON.ANS [.BBS]
TUE.ANS [.BBS]
WED.ANS [.BBS]
THU.ANS [.BBS]
FRI.ANS [.BBS]
SAT.ANS [.BBS]
For screens to be displayed on a specific date, for example, December
25th you would create a screen (or screens) named:
1225.ANS [.BBS]
The first two numbers (12) represents the numerical value of the month
(January = 1, December = 12). The last two numbers (25) represent the
numerical day of the month.
It's that easy! JUST MAKE SURE THAT THESE SCREENS ARE LOCATED IN THE
SAME DIRECTORY AS TRIDAY!!!!!!!
Shareware
---------
Please note that this is NOT crippleware. ALL features of TriDay can
be used without registering it. But, for my time and energy, I would really
appreciate the registration. Read on for an incentive:
This product is SHAREWARE. Please help support shareware by
registering this door. By registering, you will get your own
registration number that will rid you of the "Unregistered"
notices in TriDay. The code that I mail to you will work with
this, and all future versions of TriDay. To order, print and
fill out REGFORM.TXT and mail it to me along with a check
payable in the amount of $10.00 (United States Currency) plus
whatever other charges might be found in REGFORM.TXT, to the
address at the bottom of the form.
---------------------------------------------------------------
PLEASE make sure that the 'Your Name' blank in REGFORM.TXT
contains the sysops name EXACTLY as it is in your configuration
file!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
